Raindrop & Vitaflex Therapy
(Unique to Young Living Oils)
Raindrop Therapy is one of the most exciting and innovative aromatherapy treatments being practised throughout the world today. It is a truly incredible technique and has been developed as a result of inspiration from the traditions of the Lakota Indians.
Raindrop Therapy is a procedure for applying a sequence of 9 highly antimicrobial essential oils to the feet, back and spine. It is a form of aromatherapy which was developed during the 1980s by naturopathic physician, Dr Gary Young. In developing the methodology, Young worked with a Lakota elder. Raindrop technique incorporates a special form of massage called “feather stroking” which is similar to the massage technique “effleurage”.
The purpose of Raindrop Therapy is to stimulate every organ, muscle and bone of the body at a cellular level through the oils, boosting the immune system, bringing the body into a structural and electrical balance, and enabling the release of toxins or disease wherever they may be lodged – including those illnesses lodged in the mind and emotions.
Another aspect of Raindrop Therapy is Vitaflex where a further seven oils are used.
Vitaflex is a therapeutic manoevre adapted from oriental acupuncture, acupressure and reflexology. The term “Vitaflex” meaning vitality through the reflexes.
Vitaflex involves the gentle pressing and rolling of the Raindrop facilitator’s fingertips upon the receiver’s body at specific points. The theory of Vitaflex utilizes the fact that the human skin is piezoelectric. That is, when even a slight pressure is applied to the body surface, a voltage is generated, and electrical charges move accordingly. The currents so generated are thought to be of therapeutic value.
